What this is
BorneoSky shows live conditions across the island of Borneo in one place: fire hotspots detected by satellite, smoke and weather forecasts, fuel and commodity prices, and links to each country's official air-quality readings. It covers Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan in Malaysia, all four districts of Brunei Darussalam, and the five provinces of Kalimantan in Indonesia.
Why it exists
Conditions on Borneo don't stop at borders, but the information does. Readings, fires, forecasts and prices sit on separate portals in three countries and several formats. BorneoSky puts them on one page, labelled with where each figure comes from.
Measured, detected or forecast: how we label data
- Official readings (API, PSI, ISPU) are only ever shown when the government agency has measured and published them. We never estimate a reading. Where we don't yet have permission to show readings, we say so and link to the official portal.
- Fire hotspots are satellite detections of heat. A detection is not a confirmed fire; it can also be a gas flare or another hot site.
- Smoke and weather are forecasts from computer models, always labelled as forecasts. They are not measurements and not an official index.
- Prices come with their date and source. World prices are international benchmarks in US dollars, not local farm-gate prices.

How often it updates
Hotspots, weather and smoke are checked every hour; smoke forecasts change when CAMS publishes a new run, twice a day. Fuel prices change weekly and world prices monthly. Every page shows when its data was last updated.
What this is not
BorneoSky is an independent site. It is not operated by, endorsed by or affiliated with any government agency in Malaysia, Brunei or Indonesia, and it is not an official advisory. For school closures, health warnings and official instructions, follow DOE Malaysia, MetMalaysia and NADMA; the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation and the Ministry of Health in Brunei; and BMKG, KLHK and local authorities in Indonesia.
Who runs it
BorneoSky is run by Syarikat Kawan Kita, a business registered in Malaysia and owned by Llewelyn L., based in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.
